Consecration to Saint Joseph: The wonders of Our Spiritual Father - by Father Donald Calloway
"In Consecration to Saint Joseph, Fr. Calloway has given the Church a precious gift. Saint Joseph is the Patron of the Church and the Terrror of Demons! Our spiritual father, St. Joseph, will teach us to place God above all things, strive for purity of heart, maintain a profound interior life, and have boundless confidence in unchanging truth. Now is the time for individuals, families, parishes, and dioceses to consecrate themselves to the spiritual fatherhood of St. Joseph!" - Most Reverend Athanasius Schneider, ORC, DD, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Maria Santissima, Astana, Kazakhstan
33 Days with Saint Joseph, two pages of daily reading on each part of the Litany of Saint Joseph, then read a few pages of the Wonders of the Spiritual Father Chapters on one of the titles of Saint Joseph. For example, Day 10, Light of the Patriarchs, pray for us. Patriarch means father and all of you know the story in the Old Testament of the patriarch Joseph who stored the grain of plenty to distribute in a time of much suffering. Gen. 41:55, "Go to Joseph and do whatever he tells you!" In the New Testament, Saint Joseph safeguarded the Bread from Heaven, the Divine Infant Jesus, and His Mother in the land of Egypt and once returned to Nazereth. On Holy Thursday, Christ desired to be with us always on earth and gave us the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist, this Heavenly Bread that feeds every soul and gives eternal life. According to Saint Bernard of Clairvaux, Saint Joseph has received a heavenly commission to watch over the living Bread not for himself alone, but for the entire world. Venerable Fulton J. Sheen tells us that Saint Joseph is still charged with guarding the Living Bread. So, Pope Benedict XVI encourages us to go to Joseph and do whatever he tells us: "I wish to extend a particular word of encouragement to fathers so that they may take Saint Joseph as their model. He who kept watch over the Son of Man is able to teach them the deepest meaning of their own fatherhood."
