We introduce Saint Lydwina of Schiedam, (1380-1433) a saint for all who profess the Faith and for special needs children. The Blessed Cross is sent out of love from God to each of us and even though we may not understand it here below; in heaven we will see the loving providence by which it was sent. These holy cards are available in three variations:
- This card has an image of her ice skating accident and a blue border. Her devotion to the Mother of God offers special needs children the pious example of seven year old St. Lydwina, who while running errands for her mother, visited the church just for a moment to say a Hail Mary prayer before the image of the Mother of God. On the reverse side is a prayer to Saint Lydwina, and a little about her from childhood to her accident at 15 years old.
- This card has an image of her ice skating accident and a red border. The text honors her as the Apostle of the Holy Eucharist. The ice skating accident left her unable to move and confined to her house until her death years later. She listened to a pious priest and reflected daily on the Passion of Christ. A prayer to St. Lydwina on the Holy Sacrament of the Eucharist and how it can help in carrying our crosses better. The special needs children have a wonderful saint to invoke for all their trials.
- This card has an black and white image of her Guardian Angel bringing her a rosebush to let her know her sufferings are over and Heaven awaits. Her holy Guardian Angel was her friend and she called him, beloved brother. She implored his humble intercession before Jesus Christ our King to prepare her for Heaven. This holy card depicts the end of her suffering on Palm Sunday and promise of eternal life on Easter Tuesday. When life sends us lemons, our holy Guardian Angel teaches us holy fortitude and we save many souls for God.
